podcast Description

Do you look at the title of your job as a way to identify Self? Do you judge others intelligence, workmanship, and dedication based of the title they wear figuratively and literally? Titles are everywhere and we all have them. However, society has been conditioned and programmed to focus on the ones that have been... bestowed onto them from the beast itself. We are told from a young age to do well in school so you can go to college, and then you can intern and have a great job, and then to work your way up in the company-- That's success. There's nothing wrong with striving for something; however, what happens when, as Elizabeth A. Stanley mentions in her book 'Widen the Window', "One in five U.S. workers say they routinely work at least fifty hours per week at their main job. Of these workaholics, 57 percent say their job has a bad impact on their stress level." Why do we strive for titles that ultimately cause a large portion of the population stress, feeling like they are in a wash, rinse, repeat cycle, and have many people dreading going into work each day/ living for the weekend? There are many answers to this question, but for many people it's convenience. "Greater" titles= more materialistic opportunity. Life is assumed to be easier when more material options are at one's disposal. This is how the system was meant to be--- Give us more of you, Self, and we give you the materialistic life you desire.
